Dont be afraid to change your approach to selling AVON!

Monday, January 31 2011

Hello Gang!

By now you have without a doubt considered the many ways you can let people know you are selling AVON. If I may, allow me to share with you the method I have had success with. First of all, there is absolutley nothing wrong with the old-fashioned way of selling AVON, by going door-to-door meeting your neighbors, and sharing with them the AVON advantage. I have done it as well, but personally dont care for it that much.

What I like to do is go to where the largest amount of people will be in one place, (usually a school, daycare, doctors office, buisiness call centers, etc.) and ask them if they have an AVON Rep. who takes care of them. If the answer is no, then I start having fun!

I always like to have plenty of samples and cheap stuff to give away as gifts, like lip balms or mini vials of purfume. After I shower these prospective customers with goodies, I usually have already detected who in that office is the craziest about their AVON, and I will make a little deal with them. I tell them if they would be willing to accumulate orders for me on a per campaign basis, collect the money, and hand out new books for me amoung their workmates, Not only will I provide her with a generous discount, but shower her with goodies all the time.

Let me tell you, they think that is absolutley the best arrangement they have ever heard of!!! And so now all I have to do is drop by that location once every campaign to drop off new books, collect orders, and drop off merchandise!!! Now bear in mind, you ALWAYS want to have it spelled out clearly as to the different discounts you would be willing to give depending on the amount of orders they get for you. And make sure not to get confused and give the discount to everybody! The only ones who would recieve that discount are the one accummulating orders for you.

Any of us would be happy to share a discount with the one getting the orders, because you are going to receive full commission on all the other orders they get for you. Some off the most successful AVON reps. out there do just this! These people are what we call "helpers". Not only does this save you the time of going from house to house, but it also allows you to concentrate more fully on getting more customers, without feeling overwelmed.

Dont forget, if you deceide to build your AVON buisiness with the leadership recruiting, this will open up ALOT of time for you to focus some on that as well! So in conclusion, when selling AVON, always remember YOU have a product that ALOT of people are looking for. It's all about having fun and making money doing it. If any of you EVER have any questions about your AVON buisiness, PLEASE feel free to contact me.

Happy AVONING!!!!!!!!!

Summertime...The time for recruiting success!

Monday, January 31 2011

Hey Gang!

Ahhhh summertime!!! Typically called the lazy daze or dog daze, conceived as a diliciously carefree and festive season with few cares. OOOKKKK...perhaps to a degree, but lets not forget we have a business to run you guys! And I've got some more good news...WE CAN HAVE FUN DOING IT!!! How you may say. Well, think back to that moment you first started selling AVON, and the excitement that ran through you as you envisioned your financial freedom, and rescuing your personal time back from the man! TELL PEOPLE HOW MUCH FUN YOUR HAVING SELLING AVON!!!!

It REALLY is that simple. I'm not gonna lie to you though and give you a gig of "ohhhhh this is soooo easy! It's not hard at all, you will be making money in your sleep"....No, it DOES take hard work to get to your goals. Anything in life worth it's promise takes alot of hard work. However, Enthusiasim is contaigous, and people are VERY smart. If you display your unbridled fondness for AVON and how much fun your having, chances are good that you will have a few people rubbing their chins with interest wanting to know more. You dont even do it all at once....here and there as you spend time with them, and when you see the time is right....... REEL'EM IN!

What some of us don't readily think of, is this is the time of the year that folks are looking for a way to make extra mooola. Maybe it is for the upcoming holiday season, perhaps it's for a nest egg to get them through the winter, Perhaps it is to off-set the expenses of energy use through the season, it really could be anything!

If sharing your joy doesn't interest you, then perhaps it's a possible fast start bonus of $500.00. Maybe your motivation is building a long term, risidual income that will always be there when your needs are the greatest. Whatever your motivation is, YOU CAN DO IT!!! All you need is a little fire burning in you named determination! Fire spreads quick, and with telling others about your enjoyment, you will find signing people on is addictive!!! Take the "Sell" out of selling AVON!

Monday, January 31 2011

The word "selling" can sometimes be an intimidating word, even to people who consider themselves good sellers. It means that you are going to have to be persuasive, believe in, and market your product to the point where your customer has faith in it as much as you do. Therein lies the key!!! How so?!?!?

Well...people are very smart in general are they not? These customers can usually tell if YOU believe in what you are trying to sell. If you believe in what you are selling, chances are so will your customers. You have probably heard the time and tested rule of selling, "Your first 30 seconds of interaction with your potential customer is the most important part of the entire selling process." Your customer is going to decide in that first 30 seconds wether to do business with you or not. Feeling Stress....lol!

DON'T! Why? Because YOU can take the "sell" out of selling! I wish I had a nickel for every time a potential customer said they wish they could get in touch with an AVON rep., or that they have been looking for a rep, sometimes for years!!! YOU are actually JUST the person they have been looking for!!! "SELLING" can sometimes take you out of the game before it starts. However, Just relax, and hold yourself as someone who simply has what EVERYBODY needs! You are a hero, a godsend, just what everybody has been looking for. This different outlook on things are certain to help you increase your....ahem....you know what!...LOL

Your SALES are gong to skyrocket!!! It's because the pressure is now off! Not just with you but with everybody. The customer feels no pressure because you don't have that crazed look in eyes that most of us get when we see fresh meat...lol, and you are simply telling them what you do, and what you can do for them! Try this the next time you go out to do your AVON thing. Before you leave the house for the day...REMEMBER...You have something people are actively looking for, and you can be a HERO!!!

How to Sell Avon and Make Money at It

Monday, January 31 2011

Making Money with Avon is Easier Than Some People Think You will find a lot of people talking negatively about selling Avon because there are fees for selling Avon. I am going to give you a break down of all the fees and how to sell Avon and make money at it.

Fees

There are some fees but your profits will cover them if you do it right.

1. The start-up fee for Avon is $10, that's nothing compared to other companies. For example to sell TupperWare your start-up cost is around $99.00 for the basic kit. For $10 you get two campaigns worth of books. You will also receive one pack of samples, some basic business tools like  your order book and a credit card slip. There will also be some reading material. READ ALL OF IT! I want to say that again READ ALL OF IT! The key to being successful at selling Avon is know everything you can about the company, the product, and your order.

2. Books are your number one fee. I have thought about having to pay for your own books and thought that they should cover that. The book is your store if you did not own where your store was located you would have to pay rent. To me the book is your form of rent. I order around 30 books every campaign and I spend about $10, thats not a lot for rent in my opinion.

3. So you have bought your books and got our customers orders back and start filling out receipts. On the receipt there is a .75 cent charge to the customer. I want to break that down for you. If you order an item from any where you pay the shipping. Avon does not charge shipping at all just the .75 cent fee. When you submit your order you will do a customer count and Avon will figure up how many .75 cent fees you should have. You get half of this back. Say you have 16 customers that is $12 in fees you will only have to pay $6 of that to Avon. The other $6 can be invested back in to your books or business supplies.

4. Shipping is FREE! Shipping is only free if you put your order in on time. ALWAYS PUT YOUR ORDER IN ON TIME. I tell my customers I have to have their orders at least 3 to 4 days before my order is due. My orders are due online every other Monday at noon so I always give them till Friday night. My helpers have till Sunday night. If someone calls me after that I will add the order but only if I have not processed my order for shipment. If I have I tell them they will have to wait until the next order goes in. I have never paid a late fee and all my customers know that I stick to my time-line.

5. Processing fee. There is a $2.50 charger per order for processing. The fee is to box your items for you. I will be the first to tell you they don't box your items organized at all. I look at the processing fee as my shipping. What other company would only charge you $2.50 to ship you your order?

6. eRep fee. There is a $7.50 a campaign charge for being an eRep. An eRep is an Avon rep who has an online store. Avon does not allow you to set up an online store anywhere but with them. This adds up to $15 a month, but the great part is it can be waived. If you have one customer shop online the fee is waived. I know reps that make a customer under their husbands name and order their personal items online to get the fee waived. This makes a great way to keep track of what you are spending on your self.

7. Business supplies. If you want to use Avons business supplies you will have to pay for them when you order them. You don't have to order them but they are handy. Business supplies include samples. All business supplies add to your total sales and will help add to how much you make in the long run.

OK so we have covered the fees that are included in selling Avon. Now lets move on to how to make money at selling Avon and not have to pay out of your pocket to cover the bill.

Selling

1. Never put your Avon money with your household money. Many reps fall in to the habit of just putting their Avon money in with the household money and spend it leaving them unable to pay the Avon bill. First thing you do when start selling Avon and start collecting money is open a new bank account for your Avon money. Mine is in my name only I am the only one who can deposit or with draw from it and I am the only one who has a debit card to it. Pay your bill before you pay yourself.

2. Don't order pre-order items that you can't sell. If the pre-order that campaign is some kind of skin care and you don't normally sell skin care don't order it. The preorder that gets most reps is order now pay later. Well if you can't sell the item you still have to pay for it. For me on pre-order items I get the sample that is offered. Normally its buy 3 samples get 1 free. This works out great for me cause I normally only have about 30 total customers that get books.

3. Know your profit percent. Avon only discounts items based on how much you sell the more you sell the more you make. Your first four campaigns are 50% every campaign there after is different. Also know that if you sign up in the middle of a campaign and you don't submit an order till the next one the campaign you signed up in counts as one of those four. To get 50% on your 2nd - 4th you have to have an order of $50 or more and order online. Know what kind of profits your going to have before ordering lots of samples or demos.

4.Pay your self. I don't do this but I also don't spend a lot on items. If you find your self spending a lot on products start paying your self to cover that. If you don't see profits but you have lots of Avon stuff around the house that might be a sign you need to start paying your self. I always figure out how much I will earn before I spend anything. If I know I am not going to make much I don't order anything but my books. If I have a lot of orders I might get something I want out of the whats new book.

In closing I am going to give you a few of my tips and things I have done to boost my orders and get new customers.

Tips

1. Ask questions. If you don't know the answer to something ask your upline, district manger, or on the Avon forums. Never just sit back and expect the answer to just come to you.

2. Research everything. Know everything you can about products like what they do, how they might help someone, cost, cost if bought else where and know as much as you can before you try to sell it to someone. Take the online courses offered by Avon they help more than people think.

3. Always have books on you. Take them everywhere with you. If you like a lot of Avon wear it when you go out. If someone says how nice it is say "Thank you its Avon, would you like to look at the most recent book." Your books are your store if you don't have one you can't sell anything out of it. Also if you are taking them every where with you, you can leave them everywhere. If you go out to eat leave it on the table, leave one in your shopping cart at the store, leave one in the doctors office, there are so many places you can leave a book that you will kick yourself if don't have one to leave when you find some where to leave it.

4. Everyone is a customer. Remember if you have family, friends and co-workers you have customers. If they tell you they don't like Avon or it cause them problems DO NOT BE PUSHY. Think about how you like to be treated. So if they say no I don't like Avon tell them OK and move on. Remember the thing that will keep your first customers coming back is the customer service. Offer them that extra thing to make them want to come back, Always remember anyone around you could be a customer. Something I do is when I give a friend or a family member a book I say if you don't have the money or don't want to order anything thats fine I just wanted to let you know that I am selling Avon and I would love to be your Avon Lady. 9 out or 10 times someone orders something. I am never pushy I normally don't call my customers about orders. I don't ever want to seem pushy to them.

5. Love what you do and let it show. If you are always up and positive about Avon you will sell more. If you find something you love let your customers know about it. For example I love the new acne treatment from Avon, I recommend it to everyone that might have acne problems. I love one of the lipsticks that Avon has and I recommend it all the time also.

6. Last but not least always treat yourself. If you had amazing sales this campaign go out to dinner with your profits or get something you have been wanting out of the Avon book. By treating your self you will want to do well over and over again.

Weighing the Pros and Cons of Selling Avon

Monday, January 31 2011

Hey Gang!

A member of my downline wrote the following article that you may want to share with your prospects. Thought it was AWESOME!!! Enjoy!

Written by Jason Eby- AVON Unit Leader

First off I will admit that I agonized over the prospect of selling Avon for several months and I was the one who approached a friend of mine who is a Rep. about selling it! However, in April 2009 I decided to give it a shot, so I signed up to sell Avon. I figure there just has to be many others out there who, just like me, have considered selling Avon, but just aren't sure whether or not to jump on board. Funny how it's just $10 to sign up and try, but hard to decide to do it.Personally, my concern wasn't the $10 sign up fee, but whether or not it would be a waste of time and more headache than it's worth. Plus, since I am a guy, could I swallow my pride and sell Avon? I mean come on, my Grandmother was an Avon lady(thanks for reminding me Dad!lol).

Since we all like to hear positive things, I will list some of the positives aspects of signing up to sell Avon. This is just my opinion from my experience as an Avon Rep. I hope you find this helpful.

Positives to selling Avon:

1)Just $10 to start.
2)Everyone knows Avon.
3)Good products at good prices.
4)No monthly fees to keep an account active.
5)No minimum sales requirements per campaign.
6)Sell at your own pace.
7)Online order submission.
8)Call center to help us Reps with order and product questions.
9)The opportunity to make some extra money(40% for first 4 campaigns)
10)Real live people to help us learn the ropes.
11)Quit at any time at no charge.

Some negatives to selling Avon:

1)Customer search.
2)Your account goes inactive if you have no orders after 5 campaigns, which is about two months time.
3)A lot of Avon Reps out there(but only a few good ones!)
4)Putting together orders and delivering them.
5)Not an 8 to 5, Monday to Friday deal(customers can and do call whenever)
6)Call center people with thick accents!
7)Returns.
8)People who order and then change their mind(rare occurrence for me)

The bottom line is, as with anything, you win some you lose some. You can't just throw books out the car window and expect to sell Avon, it takes effort. You don't just build a customer base over night, it takes time. Building an Avon business takes time, effort and patience and that is how I view it, as a business. I "reinvest" my earnings to growing my Avon business. I buy more Avon books and do some advertising, I also went crazy getting "free" stuff from Vistaprint! I sign up people to sell Avon and provide them with training and support as needed. At this point in time I am not worried about making money, besides most start up business don't turn a profit in the first year anyway, so I don't get too worked up about all that(I do often let Avon buy me lunch though!). I just make sure Avon pays for itself and doesn't use our regular income(I set up a separate bank account to be safe).

I will say, I know several people who sell Avon and make a great living at it. Some sell Avon like crazy, winning free cruise vacations, others sell less Avon and sign up new Reps every day! These folks put a lot of time and effort into it and were patient in letting it grow.

I may be several years away from supporting my family as an Avon Rep. , maybe I never I do, but it's worth trying. However, it did help us pay rent last month and puts gas in the car!

Who knows how long I can clean windows for a living, but I'm sure I could sell Avon for a long time, it just may be my retirement income. So, if you want to try it, I can help. If you just have some questions, feel free to ask me. Selling Avon isn't for everyone, but it could be for you.

Thanks Jason for this SUPER article!!! If you get the chance, please comment on this article for Jason!!!

Common AVON Questions Answered- Part 3

Monday, January 31 2011

1- Is there a minimum of books to be ordered? (I really just want one for myself and maybe one or two more)

ANSWER:
Books come in packs of 10's. They will automatically send you 1, but if you want more than that you have to order them in the packs. Also, your district Manager keeps a supply on hand, and you could try to meet her somewhere to get a few books.

2-  The $7.50 fee for eRep for each campaign, what if you don't order each campaign, do you still get charged?

ANSWER:
Yes they will keep charging you. Now, you are not required to be an eREP, but can be nice. AVON has extended a program as of late that helps eREPS, as long as you get just 1 order online, your fee is waived. So like you said in one of your questions, Alot of reps have a family member order something, and that waives their eREP fee.

3-  The $2.50 processing fee, is that for my complete order or is it for each order which is placed under my #?

ANSWER:
That $2.50 fee is for your entire order, not per your customer orders.

4-  If I have someone other than my husband to order online, do they get their order shipped to them or do I have to deliver it to them?  If they get it shipped to them, is there a charge to them for that?

ANSWER:
You have an option on your AVON website to set all your orders to Direct Delivery Only, or you can select that YOU will deliver the product, and so thay will ship to you in that regard. Direct Delivery orders are Free Shipping on orders over $30. Now if you decide to DELIVER your ePAGE customers orders, you will need to retrieve those from your web office, enter them into your order, and then delete the seperate eORDER. That way, there is no risk of a double order. I personally like the Direct deliver option, because the customer orders, and AVON packs and ships to them in just a few days.

5-  Do I get a special price for all items or do I get a percentage of what I sell( you mention profit percent, the more i sell, the more i get)  What if I just order for myself, do I pay the normal price and then get some percent back, or do I get to order at a discount?

ANSWER:
Your discount is always equal to the commission level you achieve. You have to sell a minimum of $25 to recieve a 20% commission. The commissions go up from there, which also means your discount brcomes greater the more you sell. However, in the first 4 campaigns you have the special "new rep/get off to a good start" incentive that will give you a guaranteed 40% earnings as long as your orders are at least $50, on-time, and placed online.

Hope this has helped!!! Please feel free to call or email me anytime you like! 04.gif   Wayne Kemper AVON Executive Unit Leader-#4913 502-321-0278 Cell

Common AVON Questions Answered- Part 2

1 If i decide to be a e-rep which sounds like a good idea, how do I contact customers?  I was going to send out an email to all the people I know.  what do you think?

ANSWER- Sending an email to your contacts is an AWESOME first step in the right direction! If you have an email list of your contacts, you can export that list to your web office (which you'll be able to access when you become an e-rep) and set up an automatic email that goes out to them every campaign...AVON design of course. Thats what I have done, and have found some of my customers prefer to buy from me that way.

2-  Do I need catalogs if i only do e-rep?  How do my customers know what to order?

ANSWER-  If you decide to do erep only, then perhaps you may be able to get by with just a couple of books. If you place an online order, they automatically give you 1, but you can only order books in packs of 10. Your customers will know what to order because when they start shopping on your epage, there is an online catalog available to them that way.

3- What about email offers sent to me and I clicked okay to add to my order, how can i delete them or change them if i want to?

ANSWER-
Unfortunantely, I don't know if you can cancel those once you order them (im assuming you are talking about avon deal of the day). For clarification on that, customer service should be able to help you there (513-551-2866). UPDATE** You HAVE to call customer service to cancel these items**

4-  I don't want to do any business if I have to deal with pick up and delivery, so I was thinking e-rep might be the way to go.  Is that correct?  They simply go to my website and order products????

ANSWER-
That is correct! There is an option you can choose when setting up your e-page that will allow you to set it up so that ALL your online orders can be directly shipped to your customers from AVON...thats called direct delivery. Unfortuntely, when choosing that option, they will only give you 20% commission. However, if you have over 3 e-orders per campaign, they will raise that commission to 40%. It's the option I have chosen, because I think it's worth loosing a little commission for AVON to do all the shipping and handling.

Hope this helps! I will continue to add to this segment as questions are ask!

Common AVON Questions Answered! PART 1

Monday, January 31 2011

Do my customers pay tax? If so how do I figure that out?

Your customers DO pay tax, because AVON charges YOU tax on your orders. You simply add your local state tax onto the orders. You can find that out by calling any retailer or grocery store in your area, and they will tell you.
Also, don't forget to charge the .75 handling charge that avon charges you. You will get half of that credited back to you when you receive your invoice. You can see what I mean if you look at the order book avon sent you in your starter kit.

How long do I tell my customers it takes to get their products?

A standard answer to give your customers regarding their orders being in, is 2 weeks.
You will receive your order in 48 hrs. from the time you place your order online. Sometimes popular items are placed on backorder because they are in such high demand. What I tell them is that they must have good taste because that product is on backorder

. Usually as long as you keep them posted as to the progress of the item they are cool. I WOULD NOT SIMPLY AVOID THEM TILL IT COMES IN. That is a major problem with some reps. and only proceeds to make the customer paranoid. If they continue to push you on the issue, just show them your invoice and that will usually do the trick.

Do I put my orders in as I recieve them? Or wait till the end of campaign and place all orders at once?

The AVON online order form has a mechanism installed that will allow you to input the items in your cart and it will automatically store them in there till you are ready to place the order. You DO NOT place an order everytime you get one. You simply gather ALL the orders you get in a given campaign, and them place ONE BIG order on your order due date. As long as your order is placed on time, AVON will give you free shipping. If you are even 10 minutes late, they will tack on a $7 fee. So what I tell all new reps. is if they can swing it...go ahead and place that order the night before. That way your back isn't up against the wall trying to get your order in before the noon deadline.   Also...occasionally there will come along a customer of yours that give you a late order AFTER you have already placed your regular campaign order. Don't let this alarm you. AVON WILL charge you a $7 add-on fee if you place another order, so insteadd of fretting about it, or taking the hit yourself, give your customer a choice. Let them know you would be more than happy to place an add on order for them, but at a charge of $7. Or if they wish to avoid the charge, they can wait on your next regular campaign order in 2 weeks. 9 times out of 10 they will wait and avoid the charge. DON'T LET A CUSTOMERS TARDINESS AT GETTING THEIR ORDER TO YOU CUT INTO YOUR PROFIT. Simply inform them that you are only passing that cost onto them.

Hope this helps!!! Until next time....
